Counselling and therapy in Milton KeynesNicola Rattigan MBACP UKCP (WPF)Psychodynamic Counsellor I have my own private practice offering once weekly counselling. I see my clients in Stony Stratford, near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, which is easily accessible for those who live or work in Milton Keynes or the surrounding area, such as Newport Pagnell, Olney, Bletchley, Leighton Buzzard, Bedford or Buckingham. In my website I aim to provide some information about psychodynamic counselling, about myself and about my practice. I hope you find the site informative and helpful in deciding whether to have some counselling. Why have counselling? You may be thinking about having counselling or therapy because you are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement, self-esteem, relationship issues, abuse, trauma or work related issues (the list is, of course, not exhaustive). You may have experienced a significant life event or life change, such as bereavement, divorce, redundancy or retirement. You may be finding it difficult to cope, to come to terms with or make sense of what has happened. You may be feeling unhappy, uncertain or worried about the future. You may be struggling with painful events from the past. You may wish to improve your self-confidence. You may be seeking a greater sense of self-awareness. What are the benefits of seeing a counsellor? Counselling can give you an opportunity to explore what is troubling you with a counsellor or therapist in a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental environment. A psychodynamic counsellor will not give advice, tell you what to do or what choices to make. Rather, he or she will listen to you and help you to explore whether what is troubling you may be related to earlier experiences. He or she will help you to explore your relationship with yourself and with others, to reflect upon how you see the world and how you respond to change or to life events. Developing an understanding of earlier experiences and past events can help you to understand yourself better and make sense of what is troubling you now, enabling you to free yourself from the past, make your own choices and move forward with your life. |
